Work

  1. River

    Founder, 2026 to present

Minimally-invasive BCI to restore and augment the human experience.

  2. Duo AI

    Co-founder and CEO, 2024 to 2025

We built low-latency graph memory that replicated globally, then a full voice platform around it. This enabled voice agents to remember past conversations in real-time. Customers include real-estate and financial services companies. I stepped down to start River after listening to a customer call and understanding that we were decoding signal too far downstream.

  3. Superfeel

    Founding Engineer, 2023 to 2024; Advisor, 2024 to 2025

A human digital twin startup. There were no APIs for voice cloning yet, so I built and trained models from the AudioLM, SoundStorm, and SpearTTS papers. We shipped an interactive audiobook with Rick Rubin and fan work with Billie Eilish.

  4. SpeechFit

    Founder, 2022 to 2024

An app for stuttering and fluency treatment. Families in 34 countries use it, and I have presented it to universities and clinics in six.

  5. Pylon

    Founding Team, 2021 to 2023

Solar design software that became the primary choice for residential rooftop solar installations. We applied computer vision on aerial imagery, and used the sun's azimuth along with shading models to determine yield and BOM quote.

  6. Roche

Product Specialist, 2017 to 2018; Patient Access Program, 2018 to 2019

Commercial and regulatory launch of Tecentriq in Australia and New Zealand, with TGA and Medsafe work on Alecensa and Avastin.

  7. MedWorld

    Principal Engineer, 2016 to 2017

Engineering at the largest medical staffing company in Asia-Pacific.

  8. Timely

    Founding Team, 2013 to 2015

Booking software. Exited to EverCommerce, NASDAQ: EVCM.

  9. Gigatown

    NZ Government Lobbyist, 2014

Led Dunedin's campaign in Chorus's Gigatown competition, lobbying government and organising the community. The city won 1 Gbps, then the fastest consumer internet in the Southern Hemisphere.

  10. NZ Entrepreneurs

Founder and CEO, 2011 to 2013

After seeing Posse founder Rebekah Campbell interviewed on the evening news, I wanted an excuse to ask her how she started her business. I registered the NZ Entrepreneurs domain that night, emailed her, and had my interview within the week. Nearly every founder in New Zealand followed, including Rod Drury several times. We sold ad space to Chorus within five months, built out a team selling services, and eventually sold the business.

Projects

  • Money-counting CCTV

A Newcastle mall charged tenants rent as a percentage of turnover, and some underreported it by taking cash. I adapted the COVID occupancy model to count cash over CCTV, training it on stills shot in my living room. 99.8% accurate; installed, and to my knowledge still running.

  • Computer vision models

During COVID I trained YOLOv3-based models to track occupancy and mask-wearing over CCTV, then built them into plug-and-play Raspberry Pi cameras, deployed at Stone & Chalk in Sydney.

  • Crypto tax calculator

Pulled live and historical prices for 10,000 coins and computed the capital gains tax owed from your location and income. Monetised with affiliate links; sold to the platform it had begun outranking.
